In an incredible waste of taxpayer money, the National Postal Museum recently paid the heft price that Stanley Gibbons was asking for the John Lennon childhood stamp collection mentioned here a couple of months ago. Why couldn’t they just save their pennies and buy a 1c Z grill from Mystic or the NY Public Library? The money, in my opinion, would have been much better spent in forming a more complete US collection.
