Maccabiah is a Jewish Olympics that happens every four years. The tradition of this event spans decades, nearly back to the turn of the century. It all started when a 15-year-old boy, Yosef Yekutieli, got all excited about the 1912 Olympics in Stockholm, Sweden. His vision was for a worldwide Olympics for Jewish sports people in the Land of Israel.

For ten years Yosef mulled and perfected his idea of these games. Then began the task of formulating the games, going through proper channels. The first Maccabiah Games were held in 1932. For more information on the Maccabiah Games, click here.
