Spains new stamp release this week, on the subject of nature, features Pont De Suert. Known for it’s beautiful natural landscapes and diverse geologic surroundings, Pont De Suert offers visitors a very diverse look at nature.
Steep mountains with high tips, a great amount of lakes, glaciers and valleys are part of nature’s charm in this region. Some of the area is occupied by the National Park of Aigüestortes and Lake of Sant Maurici. The National Park is a magnificent example of the action of glaciers of the Quaternary on granites and slates.
In addition to the diverse geology, Pont de Suert offers a piece of preserved history that dates back to King Solomon. Old traditions are still held in high regard and can be observed at any of the many festivals in the region.
