In the Baltimore Sun today, Lynnette Long rants and raves about her perceived inequity on the number of women honored on US commemoratives as compared to the number of men. The piece blasts the postal service for not honoring enough women, and accuses the postal service of perpetuating the perception that women did not play a significant role in the founding or building of this country. Ms. Long wraps the piece up with a diatribe about how the postal service is doing this because it knows that the vast majority of stamp collectors are men and so they are marketing to them. The editorial is an entertaining read, replete with conspiracy theory and accusations of “insidious and destructive bias.” Here is the link.
