Royal Mail Stamp Honors Engineer

On Thursday, February 23, Royal Mail released a set of six stamps honoring Isambard Kingdom Brunel. Brunel was one of the great British engineers of the 19th century (1806-1859), having built twenty-five railways lines, over a hundred bridges (five of those suspension), eight pier and dock systems, three ships and a pre-fabricated army field hospital.

Australia Stamp Honors Olympic Winner

Australia today, February 24, released their stamp, commemorating Dale Begg-Smith’s Gold Medal Victory at this years Winter Olympic Games in Turin, Italy. His victory came on February 16 in the men’s freestyle skiing moguls. The stamp will be available in a sheetlet of ten stamps, valued at .50c.

The Netherlands have gone where no man has gone before, in releasing a new generation of postage stamps. Lenticular “video” stamp uses a special printing process on a stamp-sized piece of plastic.
