John DeBoo, of the Yahoo US_Specialized group, has discovered that the Hattie McDaniel stamps are a problem when it comes to trying to soak used singles off the paper. First, the stamps are very stubborn in coming off the paper in the first place. Second, the ink is tending to flake off during the drying process. All the stamps that have done this up until now were produced by Ashton-Potter, but this one was produced by Banknote Corporation of America. While it is not beyond the realm of possibility for these to be isolated phenonomena, it leads me to believe that there may be something in common between the two manufacturers. Perhaps they are using the same paper supplier? Any further information on this would be much appreciated.
