Some of you may already be aware of this, but I’d be willing to bet that many of you are not. There is a web site, set up by the Universal Postal Union (UPU), called the World Numbering System (WNS). The goal of this site, and system, is to “catalog” each stamp that is issued by a “legal” stamp issuing entity in the world, with the aim of informing collectors and postal administrations of which stamps are “legal” and which are not. You can have a look at the site here: WNS. The nice thing about this site is all of the technical data that is included with each stamp listing. The listings go back about 4 years, so those of you who are interested in recent issues may very well find this site invaluable. Thanks to Saleem Khan for the suggestion to post about this site. I will also put the link to the WNS site on my links page, so you can have a handy reference to it.
