The Penny BlackI have always said that investing in stamps is a supremely bad idea. Most real collectors will tell you the same thing. Unlike most other investments, it takes some highly specialized knowledge to know which stamps may have investment potential, and it takes a world of patience to even realize any gain on them. Stamps have never done as well as the stock market over a long period. Nevertheless, the investment press never seems to heed the warnings and periodically tries to pump up the market for the likes of Afinsa and Stanley Gibbons. Today’s Aim Investor, a regular column of TheBusinessOnline.com does a masterful job of pushing Stanley Gibbons stamp investing scheme, almost making me wonder if wasn’t some bloke over at the Gibbons firm that wrote the piece. You can read the column here.
