We love you yea, yea, yea! Royal Mail has issued six Beatles stamps on January 9, 2006. Each stamp features an album sleeve on top of a stack of albums. The stamps are commemorating The Beatles amazing cultural contribution to Britain. Your six classic flashbacks from the stacks of wax include:
With The Beatles (1st Class) – 1963′s With The Beatles has a great mix of original songs and cover versions too including, “Please Mr Postman”.
Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band (1st Class) – 1967 and Peter Blake’s album cover design which symbolizes the dreamlike days of the Summer of Love. Interesting to not that this was the first album ever to have lyrics printed on the back.
Help! (64p) – Songs on this classic album include “Ticket To Ride”, “You’ve Got To Hide Your Love Away”, “Yesterday” – one of the most covered songs of all time.
Abbey Road (64p) – 1969 and of all The Beatles albums, this is perhaps the most well known cover. Paul is barefoot signifying that perhaps rumors are true and Paul is dea. This was also their final studio album. Two of George Harrison’s most loved songs “Here Comes The Sun” and “Something” are featured.
Revolver (72p) – 1966′s Revolver is renowned as The Beatles groundbreaking album and has been frequently voted by fans as the best ever. Many perhaps are not aware that Manfred Mann’s bass player (at the time), Klaus Voorman, is responsible for the legendary cover-art.
Let it be (72p) – This album was actually recorded before Abbey Road, yet Let It Be wasn’t released until 1970 along with the film of the same name. Sadly both went on sale after The Beatles had disbanded.
