Maritime stamp collectors will enjoy Australia’s stamps which were released today, May 1, 2007. The Historic Shipwreck stamps features the Admella, Loch Ard, and Dunbar, which were lost in Australian waters. Sally Piskuric’s designs come in .50, $1.00, and $2.00 denominations on a sheet of fifty.
Australia is known for it’s maritime culture, especially during the 19th century when ocean voyaging was at it’s peak. With the increase in ocean travel and travel along Australia’s coastline, came an increase in shipwrecks as well.
