The stamp is one of only six copies known, and sold for a whopping $11,500 AUS. The stamp was sold through Australia’s Prestige Philately auction house.

The continuing strong performance of worldwide has drawn a lot of newcomers to the field, including some major investment houses in Europe. This offers investors an alternative to traditional investment vehicles such as stocks and bonds. For collectors, this may not be such a good thing as it certainly limits our ability to acquire such rare items. On the other hand, the rare items that are already in our possession are enjoying the fruits of the market should we decide to sell.
