Yesterday, July 21, Canada Post issued a new domestic rate stamp commemorating the establishment of the province of Alberta. The Alberta stamp features pictures of a natural-gas plant near Fort Saskatchewan, the Calgary skyline and Mount Lawrence Grassi looming over a CPR freight train. The stamp is pictured below.

I live in Calgary. Yeah Alberta 100 years a province as of Sept 1, 2005. The reason for the date of issue July 21, 2005 is that July 21, 1905 the act of parliament was passed that made us a province effective Sept 1, 1905.

By the way Edmonton is the capital but not as large as Calgary, and really Calgary is where all the oil and gas industry head offices and infrastructure is located. Calgary is just shy of one million people but the greater Calgary area is over one million.

    Steve
