Today, June 28th, Canada Post has issued a set of two stamps commemorating the Snowbirds Air Demonstration Team. This release is available in a Pane of sixteen, Souvenir Sheet of two stamps, First Day Cover, and Souvenir Sheet of FDC. In addition, the Royal Canadian Mint has released a double-hologram $5 pure silver coin and is selling it with the stamp set as a package.

It was November 11 1942, when the 431 Bomber Squadron was first formed in Burn, England. The 431 would remain in England for the duration of the war and later, after V-E Day, moved to RCAF Station Dartmouth, Nova Scotia and disbanded there on September 5, 1945. The 431 Fighter Squadron was again formed January 18, 1954 in order to display the Sabre to the public at airshows. They were once again disbanded on October 1,1954.

Todays Snowbirds saw reactivation on April 1, 1978 as the 431 Air Demonstration Squadron. As ambassadors for the Canadian Forces and Canada, the Snowbirds travel across North America, performing in 64 air shows in 41 locations in 2006.
