Today Iceland releases the Day of the Stamp minisheet, which features the beautiful multicoloured rooftops in Reykjavík, Iceland. Stamp Day was first celebrated in Iceland in 1960.

In the begining there were only a few European nations that celebrated Stamp Day. As the years went by, it grew into a day of special celebration among stamp collectors in many countries. In addition to stamps, various postal administrations have introduced special cancellations for the Day of the Stamp.
