Every now and again I run across a topic on stamps that makes me stop. Luxembourg’s EUROPA 2005 Series on Gastronomy definately made me stop. At first some people may think, “Thats an odd medical field to profile.” Well OK, maybe not some people…just me. But upon closer inspection this is in fact “food”! Now we are talking!
Food is a favorite subject of mine and deserves to be on a stamp. Two stamps are featured, click here for more information, each featuring a typical dish in Luxembourg.
The first is a primary national dish called Judd matt Gaardebounen. Whats that you say? Collar of smoked pork with marsh beans and brown sauce! Yummy. The second stamp features Feierstengszalot, a small delicacy of hard-boiled eggs and gherkins. This salad is made up of boiled and diced breast of beef covered with a lightly creamed vinaigrette dressing. As they say…Bon appétit !
