Today, May 2 2006, the Isle of Man releases a set of stamps for the 40th Anniversary of the Wembley World Cup Final. This also coincides with England’s World Cup win over Germany. These six stamps are available in sets and sheets, first day covers, and presentation pack.

The stamps show the victory at Wembley on July 30 1966. The stamps feature scenes from the match, with images provided by Graeme Atkinson, a sports photography archivist for the Press Association.

Philatelic bureau manager Dot Tilbury said: ‘We were pleased to have worked in conjunction with Deutsche Post, the German post office, on this issue which has been licenced by FIFA and holds World Cup 2006 official status.’
