Yesterday a joint Stamp issue with the theme “Unique Marine Life” was released as a joint project between Brunei and Malaysia. The stamps were designed by Awang Ali Bin HajiAbdul Rahim and feature “Ikan Buntal Berintik” (Spotted Boxfish of Brunei), “Bebakan Takat” (Orange-striped Triggerfish of Brunei), “Ikan Lapu” (Leaf Scorpion fish of Malaysia), and “Siput Kurita Berkebuk” (Chambered Nautilus of Malaysia).

There are four designs in all for the first joint issue by these countries, two by Brunei Postal Services and two by Pos Malaysia. The miniature sheet and official First Day Cover are issued and sold simultaneously in both countries at the price of B$0.45 for First Day Cover and B$2 for Miniature Sheet as well as B$0.60 for the stamp.

The Postal Administrations are aiming to foster closer relationships between Brunei Postal Services Department and Pos Malaysia, as well as promoting the beauty of both countries natural environment. They also hope to encourage children to develop an interest in stamp collecting.
