National Costume Stamp from Posta Slovenije

January 24, 2006 brings us a commemorative issue from Posta Slovenije. This design was taken from popular Ljubljana painter Franz Kurz zum Thurn und Goldenstein (1807-1878), for the showing of the National Costume from Smlednik. Goldenstein painted a series of national costumes and this stamp depicts the clothing of the period, representing both man and woman.

Stamps have often been used to show art, styles, jewelry, pottery, and other cultural pieces. This stamp does an excellent job in presenting us a good look at the styles of clothing that were worn in Smlednik.
