Saturday May 12, 2007 is the issue date for the Florida Panther stamp by the United States Postal Service. This will be a single 26-cent definitive stamp that comes available in several formats. A PSA pane of twenty, WA pane of one hundred, SA convertable booklet of ten, and SA coil of 100. Thematic collectors have plenty of varities in this stamp, which was designed by Nancy Stahl. Stahl used an actual photograph of a Florida Panther when creating her stamp design.
Many people do not realize that Florida Panthers are rare, with less than one hundred remaining in Southern Florida’s woodlands and wetlands. These large cats are related to the Mountain Lion. They are most active between sunset and sunrise, feeding on white-tailed deer and what small animals or birds it can find. More information on the Florida Panther can be found at the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Division of Endangered Species website
