The WWF Conservation Stamp Collection from Australia Post, which dates back to 1998, continues with this weeks release of Cocos (Keeling) Islands Reef Sharks. This series began 7 years ago with it’s first issue of Australian Endangered Birds. This was followed in 2000 with the release of the Cocos (Keeling) Islands Crabs, in 2001 Australian Antarctic Territories Leopard Seals and the Christmas Island Birds in 2002.

The WWF Conservation Stamp Collection is the largest thematic collection in the world. Since 1983, some 1,200 different stamps, all produced by Groth AG of Unterägeri (Switzerland), have been issued in 210 countries.

The money from the sale of the stamps has helped fund a range of activities - from the conservation of endangered species, to helping forest and coastal dwelling communities improve their standards of living through sustainable use of their natural resources. Here is Australia Posts release information.
