The South African Post Office issued a set of stamps on Wednesday September 6 2006. These stamps feature six Clivia flower species which are indigenous to South Africa. Gillian Condy is credited as the stamp designer and also holds the position of resident botanical artist at the South African National Biodiversity Institute, Pretoria. These stamps are available in several formats, including Stamp Set (Mint), Stamp Set (Cancelled), Control Block (Mint), Control Block (Cancelled), Full Sheet (Mint), Full Sheet (Cancelled), and First Day Cover with all 6 stamps as a set.
The Clivia is found in the southern Africa region, and only in the shaded pockets of the Afromontane forests near the South Africa and Swaziland borders. Shown in order from left to right are Clivia robusta, Clivia nobilis, Clivia caulescens, Clivia gardenii, Clivia mirabilis, and Clivia miniata.
