The residents of Springfield USA are on stamps today at Australia Post. The Simpsons first appeared on The Tracy Ullman show in April 19, 1987 and became the longest running animated program in television history.

Featured on the stamp tabs are: Homer, Marge, Bart, Maggie and Lisa Simpson. Residents of Springfield featured on the tabs are: Abraham Simpson, Charles Montgomery Burns, Krusty the Clown, Ned Flanders, and Apu Nahasapeemapetilon.

Matt Groening was a comic strip creator and was known for his strip “Life n Hell”. When brought into the Ullman show, Groening created the characters of the Simpsons in less than 15 minutes, naming them after his own family.
