Stamp of Jozef Cincík from Slovenska Post

On November 24, 2006 Slovenska Post issues the stamp honoring Jozef Cincík. Along with a portrait of Cincík, the stamp also has motifs based on his stamps Kniežatá (Princes, 1944) and on the FDC based on the stamp Poštový kongres (Post Congress, 1942). Cincík was known as a visual artist, illustrator, graphic designer, art historian, stage designer, editor, and university professor.
The resume for Jozef Cincík was as full as was his life. He was Secretary of the Matica Slovenská Artistic Division, he had managed the State Office for the Protection of Historical Monuments for Central Slovakia, and all while studying philosophy and art history at Komensky University. Cincík had illustrated books and publications, created elaborated designs of Slovak postal stamps, and even was involved in the design of Slovak banknotes. The Slovak Chamber Theatre was co-founded by Cincík. He was artistic advisor for the designing of stages and costumes for both theatre and movies. Cincík also had published studies and monographs in art history. Upon his immigration the the United States in 1945, he gave lectures on archaeology and sacred art history.
