On December 1st of this year, Tawain issued a set of New Years Greeting stamps. This upcoming year will find the Chinese Lunar New year falling on February 18, 2007. And what creature commemorates the Lubar New Year for 2007 you ask? The Pig!

Chosen for this years designs are the works of Miss Wu Jen-feng, who had won in a competition of drawing the Chinese zodiac animals. Her work will be seen on two of the stamps, along with a miniature sheet she designed as well.

On the $3.50 stamp is a pig with a traditional Chinese pattern in the background. This is to show the festive atmosphere of the Chinese New Year. On the $13.00 stamp is “Gongs and drums sounding to Heaven”. This design shows the happy and festive atmosphere of the Chinese New Year. The $12.00 miniature sheet has two roly-poly red and gold piglets. These represent nobility and joy, while their smiles convey the abundance and festivity of the year of the pig.
