It seems that Sunday May 6, 2007 is the day for Mail Envelope issues in the United States. Two Prepaid Envelopes are issued today. The Air Force One Priority Mail Pre-paid Envelope ($4.60) and the Marine One Express Mail Pre-paid Envelope ($16.25). And three Express Mail Envelopes of Star Wars Thirtieth Anniversary ($16.25).

More and more collectors are taking an interest in collecting prepaid envelopes, although I hear the major complaint is the glue on the back and the fear of it coming through to the front of the envelope with time. As with most philatelic problems, there are usually a multitude of interesting solutions that arise. One solution I heard was a collector who takes a high power magnifying glass and razor. He carefully slices the bead of glue off the back without hurting the envelope. Now that’s a labor of love!
