Last week the USPS released the 2005 Holiday Stamps on October 20th. First Day Cities were Minneapolis, MN and at the Mega Stamp Show in New York, NY. This release includes Four .37-cent Commemorative Stamps, Pane of 20, Convertible Booklet of 20, and Vending Booklet of 20 .
We all have to admit that one of the big things about the holidays is the food! Stamp designer Derry Noyes of Washington, DC, hit the reindeer on the nose with this set of four designs. Festive sugar cookies feature Santa, two Snowmen, an Angel, and two elves (one made of sugar cookie and the other gingerbread). I can feel the warmth of the kitchen and delightful smells even now!
Noyes had excellent help from photographer Sally Anderson-Bruce of New Milford, CT, and a recruited a team of experts-including Tommy Simpson, of Washington, CT (who also made the cookie molds); Emily Diffrient-Crumpton, of Austin, TX; and Rebecca Vermilyea, of Bethlehem, CT-to help bake and decorate the charming cookies shown on these stamps. Nice job team!
