I have some great memories of my dad and I looking at his stamp collection together, and of him getting me started on my own collection. Your site really brings back the memories. I remember he had a lot of stamps with airplanes, and I wish I still had both his collection and mine. Where do these things end up?

That's a very nice amount for a single stamp. I don't recall the sale of a French stamp reaching that high a price.

An amazing price for a nice little stamp. Wish I had an inverted Jenny in my collection. I have only seen pictures. I am all for some price inflation on rare postage stamps and rare coins. There is plenty of money available in the coffers of the affluent to pay such prices, and even higher.

It will be interesting to see where philatelic and numismatic prices will be heading as the economy slumps. Will we be seeing more foreign collectors/investors entering into the market, like we saw in the art market in the 80s? Stay tuned.
