American Idol on Stamps

American Idol is one of the most popular shows on television today. This annual competition has produced some of today’s brightest singing sensations including Kelly Clarkson, Rubin Studdard, and Clay Aiken. Now, the producers of American Idol have partnered with Stamps.com to issue a set of Photostamps that depict the winners of the competition. All proceeds from the sale of the stamps will be donated to the Idol Gives Back Foundation which focuses on six different charities: the Children’s Defense Fund, The Global Fund, Make It Right, Malaria No More, Save The Children, U.S. Programs and the Children’s Health Fund. Obviously, a worthy cause indeed!

The stamps available now at Stamps.com include sheets for Kelly Clarkson, Ruben Studdard, Fantasia Burrino, Carrie Underwood, Taylor Hicks, Jordin Sparks, and David Cook. The sheets are $19.99 each and are limited to 2000 sheets per state, which really doesn’t seem that limited at all. I wonder if they’ll sell all of them? The sheets consist of 20 stamps with four different images of each respective singer. The selvedge of the sheet has an image of the state for which the sheet is intended and wording to the effect of “California Limited Edition”, or whichever state is being ordered. So, in order to have a complete collection of these babies, you’d need 50 different sheets for each singer! That’s 350 sheets total at a whopping $7000 for a complete collection. Hmmmm…. better run out and get yours today, before you get left out. :)

Another sheet is expected to be issued for this year’s winner shortly after the end of the competition. Who do you think it will be? Here’s your choices, so far:

  • Adam Lambert stamps
  • Alexis Grace stamps
  • Allison Iraheta stamps - This one’s my choice - she’s a really kick ass singer and sooooo young.
  • Anoop Desai stamps
  • Danny Gokey stamps - no way
  • Jasmine Murray stamps
  • Jorge Nunez stamps
  • Kris Allen stamps
  • Lil Rounds stamps
  • Matt Giraud stamps
  • Megan Joy stamps
  • Michael Sarver stamps
  • Scott MacIntyre stamps

That’s the top 13 American Idol contestants. There’s some really good candidates there, and some really, really, bad ones. Still, it’s a lot of fun to speculate who’s going to win and get their picture on that next set of American Idol stamps!
