History of Stamp Collecting on Cayman Net
Cayman Net News has a story this morning, ostensibly about the history of stamp collecting. The story starts out telling the story of George V, the stamp collecting King. It’s a great story, and the reason that stamp collecting is now called the “hobby of kings”. The problem with this story, however, as that it turns into a story extolling the virtues of investing in stamps. If you’ve been reading Philatelic Tidbits for any length of time, you’ll know that I’m dead set against the idea of stamps as an investment. When you look at the numbers, stamps are not a compelling investment vehicle. You are much better investing your nest-egg in precious metals or stocks. At any rate, here is the link
