I’ve been a Mekeel’s subscriber now for about 2 years. I like the magazine a lot, in fact I prefer it over Linn’s. In the April 13 issue of Mekeel’s, publisher John Dunn announced that they now had a web presence at StampNewsNow.com. They are also running an e-mail newsletter, but the sign up form is not really working right now. It just opens up your e-mail application, provided you are using one.

I personally think the site needs a lot of work, as the design is not particularly professional-looking, and the newsletter signup needs to be fixed so that those who are using web-based e-mail can participate as well. I had a look at the advertising rates they are charging for a link on the site, and I have to say that they are just outrageous. I wouldn’t pay that much for a link on a site with a super-high page rank, let alone one for a brand new page that isn’t even listed in the search engines yet.

Now, it might seem like I just ripped the site apart, but I’m really not. I just think that the folks over at Mekeel’s have a lot to learn about being on the web. Give them a couple of years and I’m sure that the site will be a much different animal. John, if you happen to read this, drop me a line and I’ll be glad to help you out with the site. Oh, and the link to your site is gratis… :)
