Ken Lawrence and Richard C. Celler made the New York Times today, August 18 2006, as they declare set of Grinnell’s Hawaiian Missionary stamps are not a forgery after all. Originally, in 1922, these stamps were declared forgeries. Potentially this new discovery, based on the cancel, could make the stamps worth as much as $10-million dollars. A great deal indeed, as they were originally sold for $65,000. To date, only about 200 of these stamps are certified.
