There is a nice article about some of the finds discovered at Washington 2006 this past week. The article mostly discusses a booth called “What’s in your attic?” that was set up for people to bring in philatelic items for appraisal. Two of the finds are quite noteworthy – the first being a cover bearing the signature of Charles Linbergh, worth some $20,000. The appraiser sent the owner directly to the insurance company. The second major find was an inherited US stamp collection, complete to 1900, which could be worth upwards of $50,000. Of course, if it was truly complete, it would be worth millions! Here is a link to the article. For this one, I believe I will use a gratuitous shot of the 1c Z-Grill, the other celebrity stamp of the decade. Maybe I can get these last two posts to trade back and forth and make $6,000,000 dollars on the deal! :)
