One of the most impressive exhibits I’ve ever seen was put together by the well known collector, columnist, and activist Ken Lawrence. The exhibit, known as the “The Nazi Scourge: Postal Evidence of the Holocaust and the Devastation of Europe”, was in the court of honor at more shows than I can even remember and is arguably one of the most important exhibits ever in terms of historical importance and as a prime example of what a gold medal winning exhibit should look like.
Mr. Lawrence sold the exhibit last year to the Florence and Laurence Spungen Family Foundation, and has now become a sort of traveling museum exhibit. In some ways, I find this to be sad news, as we probably won’t be seeing this on display at any APS shows again in the near term future anyway. On the other hand, the collection will be reaching a much wider audience with a very important message and lesson in history. That is good news, indeed.
This week, the collection will be shown at three different venues in the Memphis area. I won’t list them here, but instead link to the article I found that gave me the idea for this post. If you live anywhere near Memphis, you may want to go check this out. I promise you, it will be well worth your time and effort to see this collection. At any rate, here is the link to the aforementioned article: Nazi Scourge
