The Military Order of the Purple Heart, an organization of veterans who have been awarded the Purple Heart, is fighting to have the 2003 Purple Heart stamp (Scott #3784) reissued with a 39c denomination. The Order has engaged in a letter-writing campaign, and have enlisted Senator and former first-lady Hillary Rodham-Clinton to cajole the USPS into issuing the stamp. I absolutely love this stamp for several reasons. I really like the simplicity of the design. Also, as a veteran, the stamp means a lot more to me than the average guy, even if I never saw combat or earned a purple heart.
