Here is a link to a very nice introductory article on stamp collecting. The piece focuses on one collector in Southwest Florida who has been collecting seriously since 1995, though got his start like most of us in childhood. The author does an excellent job of explaining the basic history of postage stamps, but left out some important things like how to get started in collecting and information about local clubs and such.
