Where do you work on stamps?

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

Before I had a child, I had an office dedicated to work on whatever pleased me, including my stamp collection. It was wonderful, as I could leave a project in midstream and come right back to pick up where I left off. Now, my stamp room/office has been redesignated said child’s room and I work on my collection at the kitchen table. This means that I must pick up everything every night, and rearrange everything when I want to come back to it. John Leszak has a great article over on VSC on this very subject. It is an entertaining, and ever so true, read.

Fascinating article. I believe that if you are serious about stamps and collecting you have to make an area even if it is only the size of a desk and stackable bookcase. I am extremely lucky and have a nice little office for my work in the basement here in Calgary. Now I know some say basements are not good, but Calgary has extremely low humidy and I do mean low. Dry is the order of the day and the water table is also deep. Basements here are safe and dry. Also I keep everything off the floor on bookcases and a nice desk so it is never in any danger. Also we are not low lying where we are so flooding will never be an issue.

Having this space is just invaluable and I consider myself fortunate to have it.
