Jamestown Stamp Sheet Has The Blues

It has come to light that there is a color variation in the Jamestown Souvenir Sheet. Sources at the Fresno, CA and Sacramento, CA post offices have discovered that some souvenir sheets are the dark blue we have seen in recent stamp images, while others are a lighter blue color.

Further examination of the Jamestown souvenir sheets has brought to light that this is not limited to a few sheets. In fact, it seems that it may be with every bundle of these stamp sheets. To make matters more confusing, there are a variety of blues that can be found between the dark and light blue range. One collector in Sacramento even found that he had a sheet that started light blue at the top, went to dark blue in the middle, and back to light blue by the bottom of the sheet.

Press run mistake? Not likely with so many sheets at these two locations alone. Which means it could be a less than perfect job of producing these sheets. In either case, it will be interesting to see how philatelists handle the variations and if Scotts ends up issuing several numbers for color.

    I think I will hold my breath while Scott issues several numbers for the different color varieties of
    this issue. I was always told I look good in blue! Matches my eyes :-}
